چکیده

With any max-stable random process η on X = Zd or Rd, we associate a random tessellation of the parameter space X . The construction relies on the Poisson point process representation of the max-stable process η which is seen as the pointwise maximum of a random collection of functions Φ = {φi, i ≥ 1}. The tessellation is constructed as follows: two points x, y ∈ X are in the same cell if and only if there exists a function φ ∈ Φ that realizes the maximum η at both points x and y, i.e. φ(x) = η(x) and φ(y) = η(y). We characterize the distribution of cells in terms of coverage and inclusion probabilities. Most interesting is the stationary case where the asymptotic properties of the cells are strongly related to the ergodic and mixing properties of the maxstable process η and to its conservative/dissipative and positive/null decompositions.

Random tessellations and Cox processes

We consider random tessellations T in R2 and Coxian point processes whose driving measure is concentrated on the edges of T . In particular, we discuss several classes of Poisson-type tessellations which can describe e.g. the infrastructure of telecommunication networks, whereas the Cox processes on their edges can describe the locations of network components. An important quantity associated w...

Stochastic Geometry and Random Tessellations

Random tessellations form a very important field in stochastic geometry. They pose many interesting mathematical problems and have numerous important applications in many branches of natural sciences and engineering, as this volume shows. This contribution aims to present mathematical basic facts as well as statistical ideas for random tessellations of the d-dimensional Euclidean space R. Havin...

Percolation on random Johnson–Mehl tessellations and related models

We make use of the recent proof that the critical probability for percolation on random Voronoi tessellations is 1/2 to prove the corresponding result for random Johnson–Mehl tessellations, as well as for twodimensional slices of higher-dimensional Voronoi tessellations. Surprisingly, the proof is a little simpler for these more complicated models.

Strong mixing property for STIT tessellations

The so-called STIT tessellations form the class of homogeneous (spatially stationary) tessellations of R which are stable under the nesting/iteration operation. In this paper, we establish the strong mixing property for these tessellations and give the optimal form of the rate of decay for the quantity |P(A ∩ Y = ∅, ThB ∩ Y = ∅) − P(A ∩ Y = ∅)P(B ∩ Y = ∅)| when A and B are two compact sets, h a...

Random Conical Tessellations

We consider tessellations of the Euclidean (d− 1)-sphere by (d− 2)-dimensional great subspheres or, equivalently, tessellations of Euclidean d-space by hyperplanes through the origin; these we call conical tessellations. For random polyhedral cones defined as typical cones in a conical tessellation by random hyperplanes, and for their dual cones, we study expectations of certain geometric funct...
